Artifact & Description
Infographic
This artifact is an infographic that I would be able to use in my future classroom as a secondary ELA educator. I created the infographic through easel.ly, which provides templates and blank posters for people to create infographics on for any topic they desire. The graphics and images are fairly easy to exchange and organize. The infographic I made highlights different authors around the world that I plan to study in class. There are also facts along the bottom of the infographic that give information about authors and publishing world. The infographic is still editable on easel.ly, so if I highlight different authors in my lessons, I could exchange the images and names.

Reflection
The main performance indicator this artifact addresses is 5c: "Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning." Infographics are definitely beneficial for visual learners because everything is laid out clearly and there are few words. I think it would catch the student’s attention and represent my teaching philosophy and focus on diverse literature. I think the graphic will also help parents to see the authors whose literature we will be looking at throughout the year. In the future, I would figure out what authors we would study each year, and I could change the graphic to match those authors. I might also change the graphic to just say “famous authors” or something so it wouldn’t have to change every single year. Overall, the colors and design are easy to follow because neither the words nor images are pushed together too closely. The students will be able to easily see that I have a priority for diverse and globalized literature to help students learn how to appreciate and even become authors themselves.
